Developers Add Anti-Piracy Measures

It’s certain that some of you out there currently reading this have jailbroken iDevices, but the time of getting games and commercial applications for free may end soon. In an attempt to combat piracy, developers have started to add protection into their own apps. Games such as Edge and Zen Bound now have anti-piracy measures, where after playing the cracked version for five levels, the app will close without warning, opening Safari at the developer’s web page, asking you to officially buy the game.

Another application with anti-piracy measures, though much less prominent, is Full Screen Web Browser. In this case, the app has the capability to detect which uses are running a cracked version, and then records the UDID of the device onto the developer’s server.

Then after 10 days, a trial box shown over the screen will appear, asking for the user to buy a legal copy of the software.

No doubt hackers will probably find a workaround, but at least developers are starting to take notice so pirates know who they’re stealing from, and hopefully other developers will notice this and implement these methods into their apps as well.

I agree as with these 10 days things how many apps do you play that last only 1 or two days before you wipe them! I say they allow 10 Minutes and than say BUY!

    • Ben says:

Yeah, a lot of games you could finish in 10 days and throw it away. Like Glenn said, the time should probably be considerably shortened.
