Heli Rescue Review

Stand by. Stand by, emergency at location …Heli rescue is the latest in the line-drawing genre; it follows into step of many successful predecessors, Flight Control, Harbour Master and so on. Personally, this is my favourite of them all.
In Heli Rescue the objective is to save stranded people without crashing your helicopter or running out of time to save them. You start each level with a fixed amount of helicopters and varied amount of helipads.
There are currently 3 maps at the moment, and 3 types of helicopter. Each map has varied style, from helipads spread around for easy refuelling or helipads all in place for that added difficulty. One great point about this game is that, unlike Flight Control the maps aren’t the same each is unique and represents a different challenge.
The developer has stated that in future updates they are going to add more helicopters and more maps, but at the moment the 3 helicopters are as follows. One fast helicopter than can carry one person, a medium speed helicopter that carries two people and a slow helicopter than can carry four people.
While flying, the helicopters slowly lose fuel and the bigger the helicopter the faster the fuel loss (as there flying for longer). On board system’s start bleeping at you when your fuel reaches a certain level and continues to beep until you refuel the helicopter (by dragging it to the nearest helipad and leaving it).
The people which must be rescued come in various groups, some are alone are easy to pick up in the small helicopter, others are in groups of up to four. Quite often there are groups of 3 and 2 which are harder to pick up. You can pick up more than one group with the helicopter that takes four, for instance you could pick up a group of 2 then go to pick up a group of 3 and take 2 from that group, leaving on to be picked up after.
Once the helicopters have picked people up there is no time limit to take them back, but there are constantly more people needing help so it is a constant battle to pick them up, send the right helicopter to the right place and constantly monitor all the people to make sure there not about to die.
You can tell if this is going to happen by the ring around them, it usually flashes green (to notify you of there position) but will change to amber then to red, accompanied by a shout to indicate that they need urgent help.
As said before, the game contains 3 maps and 3 types of helicopter. The game has online high scores, which I am fifth at for one level
You can email a challenge to your friend to see if they can beat it. The game also contains one of the latest features of 3.0 – in game music. You can listen to your own music while playing this engrossing game. The game uses multi-touch control, you can control two helicopters at the same time by drawing the lines – this isn’t a very good feature by yourself, but if playing with a friend and you want to get the upper hand..
The line drawing technology is easiest to relate with Flight Control, wherever you draw the line the helicopter goes, it doesn’t pick the fastest route for you it leaves you up to that. When the line is red, the helicopter hasn’t got an objective, if the line is white then it is collecting someone or going back to base. When dragging a line to a person, there is a sort of snap to function. Meaning it is easier to get the helicopter to pick up the person, instead of having to fiddle around.
The Game automatically saves if you leave the game and there is a pause option in game too.
The Controls as explained above are very simplistic and easy to use, it’s line drawing at it’s best.
The graphics are exceptional, from the spinning rotors of the helicopter to the moving water in the bay, it really is a visual treat!
There isn’t actually any music for the audio, merely the hum of helicopter rotors and the screams of people needing to be picked up. This is a slight let down for the game, but as you can listen to your own music in game not a big flaw.
This game is great fun, and if you own Flight Control or any other line drawing app you owe it to yourself to purchasing this app, this is my favourite line drawing app and is a fabulous little game. With the promise of more maps and helicopters to come, I see no reason this shouldn’t be on everyone’s iPhone or iTouch.
Positvies: Super Game play, One of the best Line-Drawing Games, Excellent Re-Playability, Committed developer to updating
Negatives: No in-game music (though you can use your own).

These are starting to become a dime a dozen…. and yet I can’t seem to stay away. This one shows some pretty good polish. It’ll be hard not to download this one, too.
I like the game and think the different level pose different challenges via the available helicopters and landing pads, BUT, and this is a big but to me, the TERRAIN itself seems to be completely meaningless. I’m not sure how they should have done this differently but I just have issues with all that cool looking watery and mountainous terrain having absolutely no significance in the game.
Heli Rescue brings a lot to the table. The idea of picking people up, and also having to worry about fuel for your copters is brilliant, and adds a needed level of complexity.
As long as we see some updates, this could turn out to be a winner. After all, don’t we need copters tog e the people off the helipads and out of the jungle? And won’t there be storms? Or guerilla fighters?
Yay. I like helicoptors.
ill admit, im not too into the whole line drawing genre. Ive only got harbor master and flight control. But this game looks superb. Nice graphics, better gameplay, and it seems like more depth. The lack of sound is a little wierd, especially when watching that video, but adding your own music works fine for me. Great looking game.
hooray another flight control/harbor master type game…
WOW an editors choice!! I was excited to see that it has finally arrived in the appstore. Seems like a great game that beats all the other line drawing games. Very great concept with the rescuing of people. Very cool!
Looks like a great game. I like the rescue aspect of it, sorta like Dropship, but a different look and gameplay all together.
Love the line-drawing genre, and this game seems like an awesome addition to it.
Looks extremely polished, a different type of game-play with helicopters and search/rescue so I consider this one a winner!
