Jump Review
I have always been a fan of puzzle and action games, and Jump is one of those few games that manage to combine the two very well.
In Jump, you guide your ball (Which is a basketball) through various levels with various obstacles. The game screen will automatically move upwards slowly, so it is your job to guide your ball through the level while avoiding the various gaps.
To control your ever bouncing ball, you simply need to tilt your iDevice in the direction you’d like the ball to travel to. You need to be careful though, because one misstep (misbounce?) and you could find yourself falling through a gap. The physics feel very realistic, and the controls work really well. The tilt controls are extremely well done.
Jump features a wide variety of levels across three difficulty modes: easy, medium, and hard. Some of the obstacles include glass boxes (which break when you bounce on them), checkpoints, moving boxes, and boxes that give you power-ups such as a long jump or a short jump.
There are also boxes with varying numbers on them. Some act as point bonuses and some act as negative points. The point bonuses can be useful for obtaining a high score.
The graphics and level designs in Jump feel very polished and well done. The animations are fluid, the frame rate is without slowdowns, and the graphics are smooth around the edges (not pixilated). I was surprised at how well the game-play and graphics worked together.
In the bottom left corner you have a pause button, and in the bottom right corner you have an options button. However, the options button is essentially just a second pause button; because the only “options” are to either exit or return to the game. I found this very odd. Your point score is in the top left corner, and your remaining lives are in the top right corner. The layout is simple, and works well.
One thing I really liked about the graphics was how colorful they are. The colors are vivid and they make the game very enjoyable to look at while playing.
The only real annoyance I came across when playing this game was the menu screens. After pressing each and every button, you have to wait and watch while the buttons shake for a second or two before tapping the next button.
The audio in Jump is nothing more than some simple ‘boing’ noises and some more sounds along those lines. Simple, but gets the job done. Some music would be a very nice touch in a future update.
Jump does include high scores; however they are not global (only local). I would like to see the addition of global high scores in an update.
As far as options go, the game allows you to switch difficulty levels, adjust tilt sensitivity, and calibrate the game. You can also turns the sound effects on and off.
Overall, Jump is a fun game and I would recommend it to anyone interested in its concept. It has high production values, and feels very polished overall. Something about the game keeps me coming back for more.
The Good
——————–- Great graphics
- Very additive
- Smooth frame rate
The Bad
——————–- No music
- Annoying menus
- No global high scores
Glenn Comments: The developer has commented music is coming along with additional levels, boxes and special effects in a future update.

this game looks really unique. Cool idea executed well. Great looking app.
It’s always appreciated when someone brings something new to the table. Or court. Or gameboard. Whatever. I also appreciate games that are a little more leisurely like this. Let’s put it this way – I think ZenBound is going to be right up my alley
This is lovely and colorful and looks like it’d be good for a quick pick-up-and-play.
