See Quence

Once again I’m looking at a game in Perplaxt’s series of games that can all be played in 60 Seconds. In a stroke of genius they call the whole thing the “:60 Second Series”. What’s cool is that everything in the series is as simple as the name of the series.

picture-45Game 3 in the series is called “See Quence”… oh, I forgot to mention that while the name of the series is simple, and the games are all kept simple, Perplext has tried to go a little crazy with their game names; EnterState, a game where you “enter” the states in the right order, and “Kount” where you count in order. So this should tell you that in this game you are going to try to “see” the right sequence of things.

Sure, if you thought that “See Quence” is as I’ve described above you’d be right, but this edition in the series is a step up in game play. Here was a game that actually had a bigger “game” feel to it, all while keeping with the 60 Second theme.

Here you’re presented with nine “stone-looking” objects and your task it to touch them all in the correct order in one minute. If you get the sequence wrong you have to start over form the first position. It has a sort of “Simon” feel to it, with enough of a difference to make it work.

Every game starts when you touch the first position. It doesn’t matter which of the spots you touch, the first one you touch will always be the “first position”. Then you can use trial and error to find the right path. If you touch a wrong spot you’ll see a big skull and crossbones and you’ll try another route.

picture-510Yes, the whole idea of a trial and error game takes any strategy out of the game, but this is a pick up and play game where you’re just trying to get something done in 60 seconds. There’s not much room for strategy in something like this.

This game, like the others in the series, is about beating the clock. Oh, and beating your friends. If you’ve looked at the reviews for the first two game sin the series you’ll see that each game has a unique scoreboard where you can have only the people you want to compete. Called the “Circle of Friends” board, you can compete against your friends all over the world and whenever you sync up you’ll see where you stand in your circle.

Also like the other games in the series every part of game is nicely done. Everything is nice and simple and every part of it works.

I had enjoyed the first two games in the series, but now with this game I was seeing something a little less in the “kids” and “education” market. While all of the games have been great when it comes to the pick up and play genre, I have to say that “See Quence” is so far the best of the bunch for someone looking for a real “game” experience.

The Good

Quick Play – Duh!
Interesting “Friends” Scoreboard
A Real Good Challenge

The Bad

Nothing Much, Though It Is Only One Game
