Super Yum Yum 3

Super Yum Yum 3 is a puzzle game on the iPhone that is really pretty fun. The goal in the game is collecting the many different colors of fruits on the level. The collection of the fruit is completed with the little “Yum Yum” character moving around the level and eating fruit that is colored the same as Yum Yum.

Each of the fruit’s on the level have two colors, the main color is what you have to match to your Yum Yum in order to eat it. Many of the fruits have another color on the stem; this is the color that Yum Yum will change to once that fruit is eaten.

Yum Yum moves along and eats fruit but when the puzzle get’s going Yum Yum will have to maneuver different platforms that Yum Yum cannot just walk onto.

To move throughout the platforms he needs to eat fruit at a distance with his long tongue. Yum Yum’s acrobatic tongue carries him from platform to platform. Moving around the levels is not easy! Many areas are blocked by fruit and the color of Yum Yum is very important for movement throughout the level and this is the brain teasing part of the game!

The puzzles on the game are challenging but the graphics and sound make me think that this is more geared for the younger ones. I don’t want to make this sound like a negative; the game is fun and has an old school Yoshi kinda feel to it.

I played this for quite a while but eventually got frustrated with something I have seen in a couple of iPhone puzzle games lately. When playing the puzzle game and you reach a point where the puzzle cannot be finished MY opinion is that the level should reset or at least inform you that there are no more moves.

This game does not stop on its own or notify you! If you have chosen the wrong color fruit and cannot pass through the level it is up to you to determine. This is very frustrating and you have to restart the level manually. This may be part of the game that makes it a puzzler however I think it is frustrating.

Super Yum Yum has 4 worlds and 36 levels of game play. The levels are completed when you have collected enough fruit to continue. The graphics are good and the audio is pretty humorous with “yum, YUM!” and “burping”, occurring at different points when fruits are eaten.
Overall I would recommend this game to the younger crowd more than the serious puzzle gamer.
