Zentomino Review
Early on in my App Store life I picked up TanZen by White Bear Studios and loved the game. I have played it a long time and still haven’t gone through all the puzzles. That’s a mark of a good game; one you’ll play a lot and still not go through everything.
So imagine my excitement when I saw that White Bear had finally put out a Zentomino, their second game, and that it seemed like they were updating their very successful formula.
Zentomino takes the TanZen formula but uses pieces that look more like Tetris pieces instead of the Tanagram triangles and squares. But the effect is still the same… mind blowing hours of trying to arrange pieces just right in order to form a shape.
At the start of each puzzle you are given the outline of a shape and it’s your job to use the pieces off to the side to form that same shape. Each piece can rotate and flip to help you accomplish this, but they can only be used once each puzzle so you have to be careful.
The controls are very simple. You touch and drag your piece to where you’d like it to go. To rotate it you just tap it and it will turn 90 degrees. Give it a double tap and it will flip over. The general thought might be to use two fingers to turn your piece, but trust me, this way is much easier.
It’s hard to go wrong with the graphics. We are just talking straight lined blocks here, but the game does everything nicely.
The soundtrack is really relaxing for this game. I actually find this better than the over-ballyhooed Zenbound. Looking for a game to play when you just need to unwind, this is perfect for you.
The puzzles start off fairly easy, which is perfect for getting to know the game play, but then picks up and gets really tough. As with TanZen I’m amazed at how many different shapes there are to finish.
And the puzzles? Well, the game comes with over 150 with promises of more coming in future updates. TanZen lived up to this and I’m positive that White Bear will live up to this one as well and keep them coming.
Zentomino is the perfect step for fans of TanZen… or puzzle games in general. I really can’t think of anything missing in the game. The play is smooth, the puzzles are plentiful and numerous. And the music is nicely relaxing.
White Bear has found perfect Zen with Zentomino.

Tried out the lite version and found it pretty good, my only problem is it is quite addicting.
I liked Tanzen and this looks even better.
sounds very hard but very fun!
looks like a good, challenging puzzle game.
this looks like a good challenge
Wow, looks pretty cool!
I already own the full version of TanZen and I really enjoy it.
Although I think this game is even a bit harder (that’s not negative).
This looks really cool, love the way the colours go with the gameplay! Sounds good that the sound sounds good
sound in 3 sentences!!
OMG, my husband would LOVE this game.
- I totally dig the colors!
I love puzzle games! tanzen is my favorite, but this game seems like fun.

LWBS has done great
another beautiful match the block games. This reminds me of jigsaw puzzles.
i picked up the light version,
its a rly challenging and relaxing
game and i would love to get more
puzzles for this game. well polished,
i have tangram pro but this one is
a lot more challenging!
Another beautiful gem.
this looks great. Reminds me of pentaminos.
This game looks great!!! I am not a big fan of tangrams, but I might be tempted to try this one. The control of the pieces seems good (something I found to be a problem with Tangram Pro) and I like the music (although I like Zen Bound’s better). It would be cool to see some different tile types/backgrounds, but that is just window dressing (maybe an update?). Great review
i have tangram pro too .. got it from app sniper
this game looks amazing
Yes! I have Tangram Pro, but this one looks much more challenging.
Another great game from them.
